Meet The Chef

    Quintin L. Perry known as Chef Q has been a Chef for over thirty years. Born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee until the age of thirteen he developed a love for food at a very early age. Between his grandmother Osceola McClendon and his mother Doris Anderson. His fascination with food was born. His first culinary apprenticeship came from the Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 17. In 1995 at the Radisson Gray Stone Castle in Thornton, Colorado, he held his first Executive Chef Position. There after he continued honing his skills by moving to Baton Rouge La and completed yet another apprenticeship at the Country Club of Louisiana. He has held a variety of challenging Sous & Executive Chef positions. Which has taken him from Colorado to Louisiana and Kansas.

He also became a sought after consultant and to date has opened over twenty different diverse restaurants.   Ranging from a Pizza & Pasta House, Family Dining Casual Elegance, Fine Dining to Hotel Banquets and high-volume catering. After over 30 years he returned home to share his culinary skills at Off The Grill by Chef Q focused on tender moist smoked meats and fresh sides. "From The Ordinary to The Extraordinary" has been his motto and philosophy.  He also caters and operates a food truck along with his family.

"Great barbecue with fast, friendly service. I had the smoked chicken sandwich, which was perfectly smoked--very flavorful without being dry. The cole slaw was lighter than most in the area, making it an ideal topping for the sandwich. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. The smoked mac and cheese may be the perfect side dish. I consider myself fortunate to have Off The Grill so close to home."
